Healthcare Strategic Planning
“Our team was 'wowed' by Linda; they loved her, they were engaged, re-energized, and following our very successful planning day went away and put our plan into action." Rose Perrin, RN BSN, PNCC, Regional Coordinator, Perinatal, Child & Youth Planning, Corporate Services
Client:
Northern Health Authority (BC) Obstetrical Program
Project: Strategic and Operational Planning – 2009 and 2010

Scope:
Obstetricians, General Practitioners, Nurses, Midwives, Administration, and other members of Obstetrical teams from across northern British Columbia.
Challenges included bringing together a variety of professional perspectives, getting very busy people to travel long distances for a three-day meeting, gaining agreement on areas of focus, developing critical connections to encourage ongoing communication throughout the year and developing a strategy that will be supported by each of the Obstetrical sites. It was an opportunity for people to meet each other, share experiences, network and develop common goals and review their achievements.
Working with the Regional Coordinator and the Director of the MoreOB Program from Salus Global, Linda designed and facilitated the two-day planning sessions in 2009. She was invited back to do a plan review and revision of their Strategic Goals in 2010.
Outcomes:
Following our very successful planning day, participants went away with two things:
- A clear consensus on next steps and their own "to do" list.
- Wanting Linda at our next annual Program Planning Day.
Future:
Linda will be active in the planning and facilitation of future Obstetrical Program Planning retreats.
