Questions and Answers

Linda hears some of the same questions over and over again, and they are pretty good questions. So we thought that we would give you some of Linda’s responses, to help you know what her answers would be. This helps us all look good and helps the client make a more informed choice. If you want other opinions, call us and we’ll connect you directly with a client.

1. Is she funny?

2. When does she arrive before the presentation?

3. What happens if we are running late or need
to expand her program?

4. What if things go wrong? (The A/V doesn’t work,
the fire alarm goes off during the presentation, another speaker doesn’t show up, etc).

5. How much more does she charge if we want her for a keynote and concurrent session?

6. Will she talk to our members, staff, board, etc.
prior to the session?

7. Does she make us play silly games?

8. How much experience does she have? (in other words…does she do a good job?)

9. What have you heard about her from other clients?

10. Is she just a motivational speaker or does
she have any content?

1. Is she funny?
Linda would never place herself in the same company as Jeannie Robertson (who is one of the funniest people in the world), but she brings "real life" humor and storytelling to each program. She is from the Southern U.S and that just makes her funny to start with. She weaves humor throughout her presentation and really helps us laugh at ourselves and have fun with learning.

2. When does she arrive before the presentation?
Linda is a real pro so she arrives early enough for you not to get nervous that she may not be coming. It is one of your worst nightmares. Just so you know (knock on wood) she has never missed a presentation in 20+ years in the business. She often uses a multi-media presentation and therefore she will arrive in time to check out the equipment before her session. If the schedule requires her to do the check the night before, she’ll be there.

3. What happens if we are running late or need to expand her program?
If you know anything about the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory (or if you have read Linda’s article "Door # 1 or Door #2), Linda is a great big "P" (Perceiver). That means that she can change horses in mid-stream if she needs to and she won’t even get wet. She will even make you feel like it was a part of the program. If you need to expand or contract her time on stage, just say the word.

4. What if things go wrong? (The A/V doesn’t work, the fire alarm goes off during the presentation, another speaker doesn’t show up, etc).
More than likely, Linda will help us laugh and not take it too seriously so that we can get on with the program and get re-focused. If you need a stand-in for another speaker, Linda will help make you and the event a success in whatever way she can.

5. How much more does she charge if we want her for a keynote and concurrent session?
For no increase in fee, Linda will deliver her keynote, present at a concurrent session, meet with your leadership team, or facilitate a planning session during the same day for the same client. Take advantage of Linda’s facilitation and consulting skills
and get more bang for your buck.

6. Will she talk to our members, staff, board, etc. prior to the session?
Linda believes is getting to know her audience. Her goal is to customize the presentation to fit with the convention theme and to address the clients key issues of the day. She will be available to meet with your planning committee, talk with key opinion leaders or send out an information questionnaire prior to the session. But she will not just give the party line. If you want her perspective, that’s what you’ll get and hopefully that will be thought-provoking
and challenging the group to think differently.

7. Does she make us play silly games?
Well, that’s a bit of a tough question. Some groups want to experience learning through fun and other’s don’t. Linda will plan the program with the client and tailor the experiences to meet their needs. She enjoys having fun and but she isn’t into
doing silly things that have no purpose.

8. How much experience does she have? (in other words…does she do a good job?)
A client asked Linda how much time it took her to prepare a one-hour keynote. She replied that she has been preparing it for the last 25 years. Linda has had six different careers and they have all been in the people business. She has been doing training, facilitating, planning and speaking to groups since 1969. She has been awarded the prestigious Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation and was inducted into the Canadian Speaking Hall of Fame in 2000. But, check out the NEXT answer before you make up your mind.

9. What have you heard about her from other clients?
The Buzz will give you some idea about the type of clients we have worked with and what they have said about Linda. But, you know that we only put up the good stuff, so how will you really know if she did a good job? Well, we will be happy to connect you to some happy clients, but better yet, give Linda a call and talk to her yourself and make up your own mind. If she doesn’t think that she’s right for the job, she’ll tell you. But, remember, 90% of our business is repeat or referral so we hope that means that we have done a good job even more than once. We’d love to add you to that list of happy clients.

10. Is she just a motivational speaker or does she have any content?
Linda hasn’t climbed Mt. Everest or won (or lost) a gold medal. As a matter of fact, she is just a really regular person who has spent a lot of time working with real people, doing real work in a turbulent, transforming world. So that’s what she talks about - Change, Courage and getting people Connected. Many of those real people have done really remarkable things. She shares their experiences and her insights to help each of us achieve our dreams. Guess you would have to say that she is a high-content speaker that leaves people with hope, energy and enthusiasm. Is that motivational?
